Freedom Food Trail

Make the most of your time in port with this immersive walking tour that combines Boston's rich history with its delicious culinary scene. Starting near the bustling Boston Harbor--just a short ride from the cruise terminal--you'll journey through iconic neighborhoods, savor local favorites, and walk in the footsteps of American revolutionaries.

Your adventure begins along the scenic waterfront, where views of the harbor set the tone for a day filled with culture, flavor, and discovery. From there, we'll head into the heart of the North End--Boston's oldest residential neighborhood--where colonial architecture meets Old World charm.

As you explore this historic Italian-American district, your guide will lead you to a hidden gem bakery offering fresh bread daily, followed by a traditional Italian salumeria where you'll sample perfectly cured meats and cheeses. On lively Hanover Street, take a mid-tour break with your guide at a classic cafe. Feel free to grab a cappuccino or espresso before continuing your journey through time.

Step into history at the iconic Old North Church--famous for its role in Paul Revere's Midnight Ride--and then dig into local favorites with a slice of authentic North End pizza and the city's best Italian pastries. If timing's right, you may even get to meet the talented bakers behind these beloved treats.

Next, continue your walk through Boston's vibrant downtown. You'll pass landmarks such as the Rose Kennedy Greenway, the historic Custom House Tower, Faneuil Hall, and Quincy Market. Along the Freedom Trail, your expert guide will share stories of the Boston Massacre at the Old State House and bring Revolutionary history to life.

We'll wind through Downtown Crossing and pause at Old City Hall--home to the country's first public school--before reaching the majestic Massachusetts State House. Weather and hours permitting, you may even step inside this active government building designed by Charles Bulfinch in 1798.As your tour concludes in the beautiful Boston Public Garden, you'll leave with not only lasting memories, but also personalized recommendations from your guide on what to explore next in the city.

Whether it's your first time in Boston or a welcome return, this half-day experience is a perfect introduction to the city's timeless charm and bold flavors--all within reach of your cruise ship.

Please Note: The tour includes the entrance fee to the historic Old North Church (or an equivalent alternative), along with a surprise local treat to enjoy along the way.
